A Mindful journey into understanding big feelings and finding our inner calm...one breath at a time.
Join me (and a few of my special helpers) as we read Winnie's story and learn mindful tools to help us understand and move through big feelings.
*These videos are created for caregiver and child to engage in together for deeper connection and understanding. 🩷

Module 1: Safe Space Helpers
📘 In Winnie's story:
We learn that Wise Winnie is a safe space helper for The Enchanted Forest.
🧚 Inside this module:
• Kids learn safe space helpers are people, places and things that help them feel calm and settled.
• Kids think of their own safe space helpers that they can turn to when feelings become overwhelming.
• Kids explore how big feelings can show up in their mind and body.

• Crayons or markers

• Write or draw people, places, and things that help your body and mind feel calm and settled.

Module 2: Stormy Feelings
📘 In Winnie’s story:
We learn that when Winnie was a young fairy, she struggled with her big feelings. She often felt like she was being swept away in a storm and it was hard to make wise choices.
🧚 Inside this module:
• Kids learn when we are feeling big feelings, it can be hard to see our choices clearly.
• Kids learn how to recognize when they're feeling stormy inside.
• Kids learn that their safe space helpers can help them settle the storm so they see their choices more clearly.

🩷 Activity:
• The Glitter Jar: Watch what happens to the glitter (our thoughts) when stormy feelings take over
• Practice slow breathing to help the glitter settle
📖 Classroom Lesson Plan:

Glitter tubes (or a homemade bottle/jar), help kids visualize what happens to our thoughts when we are feeling big feelings.
Module 3: Feelings in Motion
📘 In Winnie’s story:
Winnie does a gentle yoga flow with her mom — learning that breathing and moving with big feelings helps her feel calmer inside.
🧚 Inside this module:
• Kids learn that sometimes big feelings need space to move.
• Kids practice a yoga flow right alongside Winnie and her mom.
• Kids notice how their bodies feel after moving through the poses.

• A cozy pillow or blanket for resting pose (optional)

Module 4: The Wise Breath
📘 In Winnie's story:
We finish our book and learn that Winnie begins to use yoga and her belly breath to feel her big feelings and make wise choices.
🧚 Inside this module:
• We explore how Winnie's belly breath begins to feel like a superpower.
• Kids learn how breathing can help manage big feelings.
• We talk about and practice 3 different types of breathing exercises and notice how they help settle our glitter.

• Practice belly breathing with a breathing ball

A breathing ball expands and collapses to show children how to take slow, calm belly breaths.
Module 5: Heart Gifts
📘 In Winnie's story:
We recap Winnie's story and realize that when she was able to find calm inside, she was able to connect with her heart and make wise choices.
🧚 Inside this module:
• We learn Winnie's W.I.S.E. Path and observe how she paused and used her breath to find calm inside before making her wise choices.
• Kids discover how when we give our feelings space to settle, it helps us listen to our hearts.
• We do a gentle meditation, asking what our own 'heart gifts' are that we can share with the world.

• A yoga mat and blanket (optional for meditation)
