A Mindful journey into understanding big feelings and finding our calm place within...one breath at a time.
Join me (and a few of my special helpers) as we read Winnie's story and learn mindful tools to move through big feelings. Teachers & counselors: feel free to use the SEL classroom lesson plans if you'd rather guide the story on your own.
Lesson 1: Safe Space Helpers
📘 In Winnie’s story:
We learn that Winnie is a safe space for the whole Enchanted Forest with her calm presence and wisdom.
🧚 Inside this module:
• Kids learn what a safe space is
• Kids come up with their own safe spaces (people, places, and things) that help them feel settled.
• Kids explore how they feel safety in their bodies.

Lesson 2: Stormy Feelings
📘 In Winnie’s story:
We learn that when big feelings take over, Winnie feels like she's being swept away in a storm, making it hard to choose wisely.
🧚 Inside this module:
• Kids learn that it's hard to think clearly when big feelings come up
• Kids learn the best thing we can do when we feel stormy inside is to turn to our safe space helpers.
• Kids explore their bodies feel when big emotions take over.

📘 In Winnie’s story:
We learn that big feelings sometimes just need a little space to move and settle. We practice gentle yoga poses with Winnie and her mom.

• Kids learn and practice a gentle yoga sequence
• Kids explore how their bodies feel after doing yoga

📘 In Winnie’s story:
We learn that Winnie discovers the belly breath is like a superpower that helps her breathe into her big feelings. It helps her settle her stormy feelings and make wise choices.
🧚 Inside this module:
• Kids learn that the belly breath is a special tool we carry with us everywhere
• Kids learn and practice belly breathing, lion's breath, and the bumblebee breath
• Kids explore how their bodies feel after doing breathwork
